Keith Urban, the man, the music

    Keith Lionel Urban was born October 26, 1967 in Whangarei, New Zealand and learned to play guitar in Australia at the age of 6.
  •  
    He released his first solo album (self-titled) in the US in 1999, and the song “But for the Grace of God” hit #1 in 2001.
  •  
    Urban has won many awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year in 2005 at the Country Music Awards. Here he accepts the Best Video of the Year Award onstage at the 2006 CMT Music Awards in Nashville.

    Keith met fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman in 2005.
  •  
    Urban won a Grammy in 2006 for Best Male Vocal Country Performance for "You'll Think of Me" – and sat front row at the awards show with Nicole Kidman and hit the after-parties – their first major public outing as a couple.

    The lovebirds were married on June 25, 2006 in Sydney, Australia.

    Urban admitted himself into the Betty Ford center in October 2006 with the support of new wife Kidman. He released a statement saying, "I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones who love and support me. One can never let one's guard down on recovery, and I'm afraid that I have."

    On July 7, 2008, Urban and Kidman welcomed a daughter, Sunday Rose
  •  
    He's a jack of all trades... He can play the guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, ganjo (a 6 string banjo), sitar, & piano.

    Urban has released a total of seven studio albums. He has charted more than fifteen singles on the U.S. country charts, including ten Number Ones.
