A native of Southern California and undergrad of USC, Tree Paine’s long career in the music industry has encompassed everything from sales and marketing, to A&R, to booking, to her current position as Senior Vice President of Publicity at Warner Music Nashville publicity department.
Tree began her career as an intern in the sales and marketing department at Mute Records, followed by a stint as National Marketing Manager at World Domination Records, and executive assistant in the A&R department at Maverick Records. In 1994, Paine joined Interscope Records as the West Coast Marketing & Artist Development representative, where she worked with artists such as No Doubt and The Wallflowers. After several years at Interscope, Paine left to launch her own marketing company, retaining Bonnie Raitt as her first client. Over the years, her client roster grew to include Warner Bros. Records, Capitol Records, London Records, and 143 Records.
With years of street and tour marketing under her belt, Paine took a job at the William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills, where she worked with Gayle Holcomb in the Fairs & Festivals department. Holcomb was then the Vice Chairman of the Academy of Country Music and became instrumental in Paine’s hire to oversee all media, radio, and marketing at the Academy of Country Music. After five years at the ACM, Paine joined Warner Music Nashville in 2007 as Vice President of Publicity and was promoted to Senior Vice President of Publicity in 2013. Paine oversees all publicity for the Warner Music Group’s country and Christian divisions, which include Atlantic, Elektra, Reprise, Warner Bros. and Word Records. She works with such artists as Blake Shelton, Hunter Hayes, Sheryl Crow and Randy Travis, among many others.
